Women’s Drum Circle
Each month, on the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m., women gather at Unity Church, 601
Tompkins Drive, Monona, Wisconsin, to drum and journey together in sacred space. Ann Marie facilitates this
circle of healing and community. The cost is $5 per person per session, payable at the door. No reservation is
necessary. Prior shamanic journey experience is preferred, but not required, as part of the time is spent
journeying or meditating with the shamanic drumbeat, about 4 beats per second.
Anywhere from 10-20 women attend this drumming circle. While a community of women who enjoys drumming
together is taking shape, we always welcome newcomers.
In order to support women who like to drum but who may be unfamiliar with the shamanic path, Ann Marie has
developed a series of ½-day shamanic workshops to acquaint women with the various aspects of shamanic
journeying. (See the Shamanic Teaching section of this website for more information about this series of
workshops and the Current Offerings section for shamanic workshops currently being offered.)
But even if you just like to drum with others, feel free to check out the Women’s Drum Circle. You don’t need to
commit to a shamanic path to experience the healing properties of the drum, akin to the first sounds we heard
while in our Mother’s wombs. See Current Offerings for a current schedule of Thursday night drumming times
through the end of 2007.
